In Loving Memory of Mrs. Ruth Selvaraj (1947–2024)
Founder, Immanuel School – Bangalore
With deep reverence and gratitude, we remember the life and legacy of Mrs. Ruth Selvaraj, the beloved founder of Immanuel School. Her journey was one of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and a lifelong commitment to serving children and the community through education.
Born on September 8, 1947, Mrs. Ruth carried within her a simple yet profound desire — to be a good girl in the eyes of God. That desire blossomed into a life of extraordinary impact. Alongside her devoted husband, Mr. Albert Selvaraj, she founded Immanuel School in 1981 with just 45 students in a modest village setting. What began as a humble initiative soon grew into a beacon of hope and learning for thousands of children across fifteen villages.
Mrs. Ruth was more than an educator — she was a mother to many, a mentor, and a woman of deep prayer. Her days began and ended on her knees, seeking wisdom and strength from the Word of God. She believed that every child was precious in the sight of the Lord and worked tirelessly to ensure that each one received not just academic instruction, but love, dignity, and opportunity.
Her legacy is etched not only in the walls of Immanuel School but in the hearts of all who knew her. She faced trials with courage, opposition with grace, and success with humility. Her life was a living testimony of kindness, perseverance, and faithfulness.
Even in her final years, Mrs. Ruth remained active in the school, teaching and encouraging students with the same passion that marked her early days. Her words, her prayers, and her example continue to guide us.
“I desire to be true to the calling the Lord Jesus Christ has called me for, till my last breath.”
— Mrs. Ruth Selvaraj
As we honor her memory, we commit ourselves to carry forward the values she lived by — kindness, humility, and a steadfast commitment to doing good. May her life continue to inspire generations to come.
